week 13 semester 2

It's official, this is the final blog, can't hide my excitement, which also meant this is the final week of my university. The university journey has filled with emotion for me, from the first day till the last, there were so much things happened, and met so many people along the way, and thinking bout it its about to end, how exciting. this whole semester working with the IE guys has been tremendous expierence, i think this semester's work efficiency has been improved from last semester, last semester there were couple of things i thought to myself i could improve on, which was the communication with the team, and this has been the focus for myself, which i have achieved. Last semester i had alot of personal issues, which led to the quality of contribution to the team, but after working it out during the semester break i realised it was more important that university is finished before i solve all of those, and it ended up an encouragment for myself, because i was able to get more work done, and put all of those things behind me, and now i feel more relaxed and more energetic to end my semster well.

week 13 semester 2

Had to complete this blog once the client meeting was over, last week i really had nothing to talk about, there was nothing special during the week except for going to the library at night every day to prepare for my exam. All the assignments and presentations are complete except for the IE which i havn't fully complete the screen shots for our manuel, due to some difficulties and problems occuring during the testing. That's why i'm waiting for the team meeting today to complete the document.
Monday to wednesday i had to stay home to finish off my website, it was really painful, there was so much questions i had to ask the net to find the answers to, it's my third days of learning how to create a website, even on wednesday i was really concerened that i wasn't going to finish on time, i stood up till 5a.m try to get the template done, but lukily with the help from my friend oversea who studied how to create a website, he taught me all the things that needed to know and the requirements of creating a template, i finally finished the template at 5.30, the only things that was left was just the contents, it only took me a few hours the next day, once it was finished, it was such a good feeling, a satisfaction feeling, but realising there are so much more to be done before the exam, the stress was hitting me back. On thursday and Sunday went to work again, my whole two days was gone and most of the time was just travelling from one place to another, at some moments i felt guilty of not studying when i supposed to, rather then earning money, but that's life i suppose.

week 12 semester 2

just got back from work again, it was such a tiring day, especially with the day light saving which started last night, it means i had one hour less sleep. this week i didn't do any of the IE work due to the high volume of assignment due in the next week, there are so much for me to finish off that i'm feeling a bit behind, but hopefully i can catch up in the next day or two, starting from now, on thursday there will be another oral presentation for chinese, which i have finished, and there will be a website due the following day, i'm currently struggling with, this is the first time in my life that i have created a website, at the moment i have absolutely no clues of how to use the software frontpage, just the software alone it took me two weeks to find it and make it work.
surprisingly this week i didn't have any big nights, didn't go clubbing, didn't go drink nor did i went for shopping, it was just busy busy and busy. i finally had a chance to check my exam timetable, i was overly pleased with it, even though the two exams are one and half week apart from each other, this time i'm feeling confident that i will be do well, and achieve a result that i'm hoping for since the start of the semester.

week 11 semester 2

this week my blog is late, i had so many things going on at once until now i finally have time to sit down and write my blog. first up since last week i had to find a house to move, went to a couple of houses which ended up in disappointment, it was a trash, then on thursday i finally found one which is right next to the university, but the landlord stated the apartment only for inspection on sunday, so i decided to go on sunday, but felt that if i don't hassel her i would probably miss out on the opportunity, so i called her three times in three days to ask for a inspection, finally on saturday she agreed to it, and ended up taken a room. but things don't end here, i realised there are alot of furnitures need to buy, so went around places to look for some second hand furnitures, as well as going to places like ikea, it was a messy few days. Also during the week i was able to maintain my conmmitments to the group finishing all of the work ben send to me within 24 hours, which was alright for me, because i tried to get all the work done before i actually work on my own things, its a real good commitment to the group as well as giving my self every opportunity for a better time management.

During the week i also had to work for my parents which was as pleasant as i thought it was going to be, because just to get to the shop i drove nearly 500km to get there and back, nearly fell asleep in the car again while driving, had to keep my self awake by putting the music to full blast, it was such a tiring week, all im after is just a rest!

week 10 semester 2

Assignments due dates are getting closer as the semester is drawing to a conclusion, i have got 3 assignments and 2 more tests remain for the last 3 weeks of university, its a pain, but its a short lived pain. our group has started testing, i've been asked to complete the screen shots for parts of the testing, which was simple, but during the testing, i have enocountered some of the technical difficulties which was expected, those kinds of errors are must to be fixed before the final systems are to be handed over, it wasn't any complicated error, every time i encountered those errors i report it to the group programmer dyee, who then fix the areas that has errors, but the current state of testing is still progressing.
i think there areis not long to go until the system is finally completed, the group has done awful lot of work to get to this stage, i'm very much looking forward to the expo when we actually have a completed version and display it to the clients, i can now imagine the satisfaction i will be feeling at that time.

week 9 semester 2

Finally the User manuel is finishing, this week when i finished the glossary i had a feeling of satisfactory, there are only a couple of things to be done which is the FAQ's and some more testing, but at least i can see the finishing line. The user manuel has been a large document, which the team put alot of efforts in.
Surprisingly this week i missed my chinese test, it was the first time in a long time i missed an assessment, because of so many assessments going on at once i just really taken notice of it, but lukily i emailed my tutor on the very next day to explain the situation, and she was very understandable, so i had another chance of sitting the test a day later which was really good, i went alright in the test, it was my first language so i didn't have any hassels or difficulties, at the beginning of this semester i set a really high standard for myself to work as hard as possible which i have done it so far, but looking at the schedule for rest of the semester there are still alot of work to be done.

week 8 semester 2

It has been a busy week for me, there was a couple of assignments and presentations completed, but the most scary part of this week was my oral presentation for Chinese, i'm not really a good presenter, in some way i found it horrified to stand in front of a class full of strangers to talk, but on thursday when i actually did my presentation it was alright, i had my head down the whole time and red the speech i prepared, occasionally i lifted my head to look at the tutor, one thing i found it strange was there was not much comments the tutor wrote for me, because when others were doing their presentation the tutor was constantly writing notes, but when it comes to me it suddently stopped, pretty strange, i was unsure whether that was a good sign or bad.
This week i think i finished the final part of the User manuel, and was assigned to another task of creating a glossary of terms, when clady send me the whole user manuel i was shocked, there were so many pages, and looking at those pages i saw the parts i did, it really gave me a feeling of satisfaction, i felt i did my part for the group and contributed, even though some of my parts were adjusted by the other group members because of the standard of English wasn't up to the standard or other reasons, but still i was really happy with my contributions.
the end of the semester is approaching, really can't wait, but looking at the course schedule there are so many more assessmentsto be completed, its going to be tough.

week 7 semester 2

Finally i have recovered, this week i have been starting to goto classes, from monday i went to majority of the classes to catch up on the work i missed out on in the last week, it wasn't much but still had some to keep up. This week i supposed to have one assessment the first of this semester with my chinese class, and i was prepared but sadly the teacher was sick and i went to uni for nothing, and paid alot for the parking as well for like 2 minutes.
this week i have completed another task for the user manuel, it wasn't overly hard, but just took sometime to complete, i was pretty happy with my work, but i know there are alot that can be improved on such as being more depth on details of the screen shots, explain more on the functionalities of the fields and buttons, and finally use more probably i can be a bit more specific in some main properties, rather then being general overall

week 6 semester 2

this whole week has be horrendous, after last week's accident i had to force myself to stay home for the entire week until thursday where the scars were actually healed abit. But with all the time i stood at home i managed to finish the work assigned to me by Clady. it was so boring staying home, there weren't much things to do, so i had to look for some uni work and other times i just sat in my chair watch the olympics, which kept my spirits high because china was winning gold in almost every event.
in the early days of the week i constantly checked myself in the mirror just couldn't believe the damages i did to myself and the situation i was stuck in, i wanted to goto uni to keep up with the work, as well as catching up with some friends, it was frustrating. the only communication tool i used was MSN which only gave me a limited access to seeing what my friends were doing, and chatting to the group members about the group work.
Through out this whole week i became olympic addict, i sat in front of the TV for majority of the day just to watch the olympics, my emotions were fluctuating, when China is doing well in some events makes me happy but others makes me want to turn off the TV. sometimes i even felt i should be in China at this historical moment, with so much fun activities and souviniers availiable, it is a once in a life time chance to attend such a big event in my own country, seeing the joy and cheers in the city, i really wanted to be part of, i wanted to celebrate along some of my friends and family in china, rather then here by myself, hopefully in my life time olympics would be held in my city Shanghai, i would definetly be there.
Yesterday was the last day of the olympics seeing the closing ceramony makes me really sad, over the past two weeks it has been memorable, i feel i'm very much used to watching the events, now i feel so empty don't really know how i'm going to survive without it.
anyway back to reality there are few weeks left in the semester, i got to catch up, the tests and assignments are nearing its due dates, i sounds scary, but this semester my elective subjects has been pretty straight forward, it is all in my original language, and is below the standard of mine. i feel confident, there are so much to look forward to at the end of the year.

week 5 semester 2

just came back from seven last night, it was horrible, got kicked out of the club once more, i drank so much that i throw my own cloths in the bin and fell onto the ground a couple of times and hurt my face now i can't leave the house it was embarrassing. this week has been really slack by me, didn't do much study at all, apart from monday i went to uni, the other days didnt manage to go at all, i feel my life is in a mess again, need to change the way of approaching my life, no more alcohol, no more clubbing.
back to school work, this week has been very fruitful, i joind the team on monday we discussed and worked on the user manuel, i saw the part i did, i was fairly disappointed with, even though cladi said it was well done, because i thought my english is still not up to the level i would like to be, i still cause the team some concerns as they had to make some changes, but im always looking to improve hopefully there will be results seen in the near future. Anyway the user manuel is progressing well, its a big document, but the team members are working very hard on, let's just wait for the end of the semester, it will be the best

week 4 semester 2

this week has been really busy, started off on monday when i attended the meeting with my group members, after that i supposed to have a class but due to my mum's illness i had to leave early and head to the hospital. but on monday i had some of the work done for the group, i started my part of the design doc, but didn't manage to get it finish, so had to goto the library the next day to finish it, it was fairly simple part, but when i realise there were much more parts ahead of the team to finish off it made my head felt dizzy, but still im confident of doing well this semester. seeing my team members working so hard it really inspired my work ethics, for the first few weeks of thsi semester i really felt slack, didn't manage to finish off anything. but one most important factor that encouraged me even more were Collingwood won against the useless Saints, im so proud of my team.

Week 3 semester 2

Its already week 3 of semester 2 and this is still my first blog for the semester, how slack am i becoming. First week it was a confusion, things were every where, first i was going to work as a full timer, but after the first day of work, i realised the commitments i need to put in for uni, due to its my last semester, so i decided to quit the job, then it was the subject selection, each of the subject had clashed with one and another, i even had no clue when my class is, and whether i'm attending the class that i supposed to, i was confused. then it came second week, everything began to work out, i attended the team meeting with the rest of the group, it was exciting to see them again, had a lot of queries about what will happen this semester, anything exciting, i lacked participation during holidays to see my group members, my holiday was horrible went travel to afew places, and had a lot of plans in my head, but found out once the trip was over that i achieved none of my plans. anyway back to week 2, i finally got my subject selections done and complete after seeing the course director, and start the semester for the one last time, hoping that everything goes well. so far it has been good, i went to every single one of my class and team meetings except for this week, i had 2 job interviews in one day, which started at 930, but by the time i finished the first one at 1 i was exhausted, really didnt be bothered going to my second, but still made it, but the response was disappointing, they found my hours to work is limited so decide to put me on hold for other part time position, oh well, still worth while going, i'm just treating it as a interview experience. By the way nice to see Jake and POD again, Jake u have lost even more weight, haha, i'm trying to put myself on diet as well, but just cant control myself when it comes to food.

week 12

this week started distastrous for me, i was supposed to attend the class on time according to my plan, on monday i went to service my car, and suppose to take the bus to uni and plan to make it to class on time, but i accidently took the bus the wrong way, by the time i realised i was at Dangenong, so i had to take the bus back to southland then take the same bus but the correct direction, but to no surprise the stupid buses took forever to came, so i was really upset and decided to go back to the car service station to wait for the car, this is probably one reason i hate taking the stupid public transport. But i managed to make to the meeting on time on tuesday which was good.
This week has been very stressful, having so much assignment due at the end of the week, plus studying for the exam which is only 2 weeks away, i'm determined to do well on all my exams, which is something i havn't done for a few years now, but the most concerning thing was with my chinese teacher, who thought just because i can speak the language i can also write it really well, but they never knew i'm only a primary school standard in reading and writing, when i left china i was only grade five, after all of those years, i predict my level of reading and writing chinese has sunk to grade 2-3, which is embarrassing to mention, but to her aware its a disgrace the way she treated my essays and making comments that i thought was really disrespectful to me, it really hurt my feelings lol.
the end of the semester is fast approaching we are only days away now, to review the time spend with the IE guys has been great, its a good experience and previlage to know all the group members.

week11

Last week i missed out on winning the blog of week, which was depressing, i wonder what is required to actually win it, one option i was thinking about is copy some winner's blog, but just wasn't sure whether there is plagiarism to copyin blogs or not. anyway jokes are over. this week wasn't the bussiest i have encountered, assignments are disappearing slowly as days go pass, which is handy especially when exams are around the corner. With our IE group everything is going well, i missed the monday meeting with the client due to some personal reasons, but from the feedback of the team members it was worth missing out on, i heard our client who was a real pain in the ass when it comes to keeping them happy, from what i heard they've got no idea of what they want them selves.
this week is FA cup final, and my favorite team cardif is actually in it, once in a life time opportunity to watch them actaully win something, can't wait for the match.

week10

For some reason last week's post wasn't posted, its weird, maybe my internet was capped, but i'm keeping a record here, this is the third time i'm writing this week's blog, and hopefully it will be up. anyway, the stress has finally coming to me, i'm struggling to finish some of my assignments, especialli the archive subject, i always ask myself why did i even chose that subject, its for people who wanted to be a boring librarian, and everyday spend 10hrs facing the books and organise them and put them in different categories, why why why, i hate books ill fall asleep when i see the books, maybe that was the reason why i was struggling to finish the assignment, i kept on falling asleep when i start reading it.
This week had only two days that i was actually doing something, monday and tuesday, as usual the IE meeting, we only concentrated on the functional analysis and tried to finish off which we did. it was abit difficult during the process, because it involved alot of discussion between the group members, there was ideas flying around, and i was the documentor, so i was actually recording all of the ideas down on the laptop, but having said that everyone was putting ideas to me, but i was actually having questions marks flying around my head, saying to myself who should i listen to when everyone is talking at once, after 20minutes i was finally lost, i was confused, i had no idea what is going on around me, only things i could've seen was words flying around my head and i hope i could've used my hand to catch some and put in my head, and be decisive somehow.
But at then end i had something on so i had to leave just before the meeting was bout to end, finally ben took over i was relieved, but still i was seeing stars as i walked out of the building, oh well this is me getting confused all the time.
there aren't many weeks left in this semester, exams are getting sooner and sooner, my heart rate and blood pressure is increasing day by day, everyday im wondering whether i can reach the exam date, may be that's what is called pressure, never experienced in all the years i was at uni, its frustrating, at the moment i just want to hide in a hole and start my winter.

week 8

this week has been a quiet week for me, i missed the monday client meeting because of doctors, but i catched up with dyee who told me the client meeting went really well, which was really satisfying to hear, most of the questions were answered by the client. the next team meeting which was on tuesday i attended, we started doing our functional spec, it was kind of a brain storming rather then actual work, we discussed all aspects of the document, from the introduction to the mod screen, there are a few areas that was discussed in details, because it was a bit confusing on which design should be used in which area and whether it will satisfy the clients need, but as the discussion continued a lot of good ideas has came through which i think we made a really good progress, there will be more discussion next week, but a good start is all we should aim for which that's what we've done.
The rest of the week was relaxing, there were no events on

Week 7

It has been an eventful week this week, first we attended the tour of Able Australia's office on monday, follow by the IE function on wednesday night, which we had a meaningful and relaxing time with the client.
Monday was the day i awaited for, the opportunity of visiting the on site of our client's office, our booking time was at four o'clock, but the whole team arrived 15mins prior dressed in suits and ties, all looking excited. We walked into the site early then they expected, the group before us has yet to finish with they tour, so waited a while outside in the back, during that time we through a few jokes around had a laugh to show our excitment, which was really fun. Finally the time has came at four, we were all introduced to David Ng, who got to know four of our members that he has never met, he made me felt very friendly with a welcome handshake. The tour started from the bottom level, as he introduced room by room, and how each room functions, and the expected renovation for the future of Able Australia, the most surprising thing that came out of the tour was the pool room, i've never seen such a wide pool in a house like room, and it was well fitted in, the standards and condition was extremely well kept, other rooms such as the therapy and art room which was still to be completed will sure look fantastic in the near future, able australia has got all the equipment that required for its client, it shows their professionalism towards its clients. After the tour it was time for meeting, the team leader brought some brief agendas, to cap off some questionable areas that needed to be clarify, our client has organised the meeting with a very well welcome, they have placed all sorts of treats on the table just for us, they also have made the environment very friendly, to tell the truth i would expect a very intense environment. The tour ended within a flash, it has been memoriable, it was my first time visiting a company that was organised by our clients, it has been a great experience.
Business as usual for the next day, we got started on our functional analysis, there wasn't much needed to mention, it was just a general brainstorming, i'm expecting alot of tense time to come.
Our time has come on wednesday, we were formally greeted our client as host, this time it was us having the opportunity to take care of our client at the function room of monash university, as usual we were all well organised, came in in our formal dress, surprisinly to see there was all sorts of food and drinks availiable, from wine to beer, i had a few cups of water, as i'm on a alcohol ban for the next few months, our clients arrived late, but it was understandable, they business has grown in a fast pace, which would keep them a bit longer in the office. But it was still nice to see them arriving, i was expected to have a relax time when we are facing the clients, which how this was ended, the team has a couple photo shots with the client, had a bit of laugh and talked bout things in general and most importantly we have further improved the knowledge of the client outside work. The outcome was pleasing. i hope Monash can continue these sorts of functions in the future, it really helps the students to improve on communication and understanding skills

week 6

Finally i got sometime to sit down and write my blog, this week has been a busy week for me, from university assignments to personal life. Last week i did a brief blog which i think was very poor effort by me, but i hope this won't happen again in the near future. This week the business case is due, our group worked hard during the team meetings to complete some group tasks, as a senior documentor i came in on time on tuesday to complete my bit, i gathered all the documents off claydi, started to put individual tasks into the final version, it wasn't a difficult task, but i took me a while to finish with the help from claydi. Along the time i was integrating all the documents, we were also checking for errors within the documents, there were a couple of areas that needed to be re-adjusted, each individual piece of work was checked over before being finalised. The document was then being put into standards where all the font and style was adjusted.
The group met with the client for the second time, i was unable to attend, but group leader ben and rowen made the meeting. After the meeting with the client, all of the meeting detail was posted to the facebook to allow other members know the exact things that happened, next monday we were invited by the client to pay a visit to their office, it is a very exciting news to hear, after all the work the group has done so far, we now finally has the chance of going behind the scene, it will be very interesting. But one other thing i had to point out, on tuesday i left the meeting during lunch time and had to attend my class at clayton, and left behind the unfinished work, which i really felt irresponsible, i apologise to the team, on tuesday i wasn't having one of those smooth days, but its the sort of responsibility that i didn't perform well.
But now i awaits the date of next monday, which i think will be alot of fun!!

week 5

uni started this week, it was business as usual for the IE group, we started the week with a team meeting on monday, it was short and brief, but all focus was on the business cards, the group were able to eliminate on the certain designs and chose the best out of the best, its aim is to give our clients the best image we could. continue on with our next task we started our business case and risk assessment, ben our team leader seperated the parts within the documents so each member has its own parts to complete. this is probably my first taste of creating a professional document, very excited and looking forward to doing well in my part

Week 4 non teaching week

This week has been a week off for all of us, but our group still manage to make it to the team meeting. Tuesday was usually our team meeting day, but this week due to the social club events we were forced to push it back to the events after the social club, which made an awakard situation for me, i had to attend an event else where, but i still manage to attend parts of the meeting. The day started as all of our team members attending the social club, our team meeting was scheduled after the social club ended, which to my surprise it did not end until 230 pm, but it was ok for me and most of our team members, as we had some fun moments during the social club. Our team gathered after 230pm, which we were able to discuss some points that needs to be dressed, before i left i was able to give some personal opinion on the business card design, cladi who was the designer did a good job, which gave us a variety of options to choose from, i was amazed at the amount of choice we had, all credit to cladi. It was a hard choice as all of the design was impressive, i didn't know where i should start from, but towards the end of my time at the meeting, i chose a design which i thought was suitable to the team, now im awaits the answer, but i'm sure any of the choice the team makes will be impressive.

Week 4

Finally this week we got to meet our client, it was very exciting moment to be waited for, it was my first experience of encounter a company. The day started with alot of hope and eagerness, our group had a lot of question marks over our head as to what should we expect and what kind of results we might get, but our team's preparation was exceptional with the likes of all team members preparing for the bit, and a special praise to ben (sorry ben last week i probably was unconsiouse when i did my blog) who is our team leader organised everything well. During the meeting session with our client we got alot of information back from them, the company representative described its functions and duties, needs and wants well, which gave us alot of inside information to their company, we also recieved some paper work which would relate to the tasks, i was surprised the client has actually prepared for us, he has done a bit of homework for the whole class which was pleasing. This week i wasn't able to attend the meeting on tuesday morning due to some personal reason. But on monday we were able to gather together and signed off some of the documents that required as a our team is working our way towards professionalism.

FIT3047 third week

In the previous week, our group has making a rapid progress to our IE assignment, we have been able to setup the facebook blog which allows all the members to communicate including me who wasn't too familiar with the website, now i have been updating the progress of the team daily. i was appointed as a senior documentor to the team, which was a previlage, this week we have been working on the standard and governance, the members of the team has been making comments and discussing issues regarding the document on facebook.
we had a few meetings each week, on the tuesday session our team was able to discuss the issues and needs to improvments needed to our documents, luke our team leader has discussed the new addons to our document which we are required to understand, and our team members were required to think of anychanges that should be made to the document. the standard and governance are scheduled to be due this friday, but i think our team is making a rapid progress in this particular document, i have put my bits in by making suggestions to what should be done and not, but my main role should be coming in later on.

FIT3047 second week

Its already the second week of our IE, last week i met my group members for the first time, and got to know them a bit. During the monday class this week, we begin to choose the system of our project, from the topics given by jack and pod, each of the group members gave they own opinion on each individual system, i personally thought to choose from debtors, payroll and payment system, it is relative easier to choose debtors, due to the fact that all information and data will be coming in, and we only had to record information and data coming from externals. when it came to decision time, the group thoroughly discussed each system, and how each of the system can or cannot work out for the group, we put all of our views on the table and gave reasons to why or why not this system will not be suitable to our team, but at the end the majority of the group members agreed on debtors, so i think it is a good start. towards the end of the class we have made a first meeting time, which was tuesday at 10.
On tuesday i arrived abit late due to the family reasons, but i was able to catch up with all the team members for a few hours, during the session i was able to set up my facebook account and Ben who taught me how to actually use the face book, which was really good, because the team has setup and discussion board on facebook that allows all the team members to post its own views and schedual onto it, so that other than meeting at uni we could also discuss online and at the sametime i've setup my blogger.com account. during the meeting i got to know my team members a bit more, which was very welcome, it was the first time i've worked with them, and i think it is a previlage to work with ben, cladi, rowen and yee. i will certainly do my best to help them out and helf myself achieve a good score this year, it is also my last year before i graduate. the afternoon meeting i wasn't able to attend because of a class in clayton.
